Truth of disaster relief

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (and Bantayan Island, Philippines)

[An unpenned open letter,
   to all the supposed news
      journalist reports,
          that use surprise and shock
to tell a story of survival

 in the face of disaster,
all you can do is donate to
   ... an international charity?
    whose relief goods never arrive
only to connect with the times
but not to the people

the majority of
survivors of disaster
do not live off of your
        vertical donation drips
         your tears of pity
   falling for the tactics
 of corporate
media-tion

  this    island    nation's
         economy
         stands on
        international
        remittances
from families living    abroad

the homeless turn to the homed
the homed turn to the not home
the not home turn to the home
electric bill
in order to give what they must
its been this way thanks to
globalization

when will the news ever tell truths?]

It's hard to make sense of the responses to disaster, such as my own.
