Public high school karnival

Kristiansad, Sweden

After another day or so of hitchiking, we were dropped off at the outskirts of the city, so we took a local bus near the periphery. As soon as we arrived into the center of the city with its main sidewalk in construction, we began to see an increasing number of young kids in costume ---togas, Egyptians, alligators, chickens, and security guards in neon yellow.

We felt that this attire in particular stood out for its representative merit.
A naked guy costume! Or a naked guy in costume? A costume of a naked guy?
Brilliant public (dis)play on repressed imagery!
Tired, we decided to buy bus tickets to Malmo for that evening (well within the budget) instead of continuing to hitchhike; extremely curious, we decided to spend our hour layover to check out what seemed to be a high school carnival blasting teknoradio music in the city's central park.

If we too had consumed a bottle of wine and a bottle of a dirty vodka mix with all our graduating school friends by 3pm that bright blue Wednesday afternoon, we too would participate in the festivities and dance wildly with whatever beats we could synchronistically shuffle our feet and move our hips, as we would become one body of multiple life organisms operating on basic (i.e. drunk) functions of motor activity and memory.

Truth be told, it was wild.

Of course there were a few folks sitting this game out (see above).

But many others felt truly happy to be alive.

For what is, living?
Even if you are so drunk and your motor levels are so low that you cannot walk, there is a consciousness in your body that breathes the moment even if in this moment it walks among living hallucinations of classmates in social drag and outrageous costume.

Question: How will the soul of that consciousness feel tomorrow,
when it has woken up from last night's dream?

Answer: Happy, to drop another souvenir
in the box of drunken memories
and facebook photo albums.

(play me 2: part 2)

As we walked back to the bus station, we could hear in the distance,

the DJ stimulating
the finger freezing of time,
titillating
the tip of the crowd
to the near edge
of a beat cliff
   drop
to transform the previous present seconds of wild suspense and excess energy
into yet another
collective dimension of consciously uninhibited
     frenzy.
          \ ALL HERE TOGETHER NOW

So young, so drunk,
but the physio-pyscho-physical compulsion
to reach alternative neuro-chemical levels
of self-transcendent synesthesia
are already burning with desire
to emit excess heat and energy...
how young is too young to BELIEVE?
to be LIVE?
to LIVE?
