Train to somewhere

Train to Zurich

My memory blurs the hours. I leave Berlin feeling intensely confused, hurt, scared. But I sit next to incredibly kind young woman, Madelyn, and we converse about the human, music, and art. The train delays due to flooding in the lowlands of southern Germany. The train company pays for a free hotel for the night in Stuttgart, Germany.

Alone in the hotel room, I watch a TV for the first time in months. I turn to BBC News as they cover the mass protests in Brazil and Turkey --- the anger against the state, the forms of resistance, the strength in numbers, the newfound force of a self-revitalizing community --- and I feel less alone.
